Hi, I'm

Matthew

I'm a consultant.

About Me

Consultant

I work in Deloitte’s Technology Strategy and Transformation team. I’ve helped assess an internal cloud migration, review an internal platform and turn a bank’s technology findings into a roadmap and cost model.

Side Projects

I’m building three apps: Candor, a Mac app that keeps job applications up to date from Gmail; Holecut, an iPhone editor for golf videos with shot tracers; and Release Review, a Chrome extension that checks analytics tracking after a website release. I’ve also shipped ETF Allocator, a Telegram bot for my own investing, and this portfolio. I use tools like Codex to turn ideas into working apps and websites.

Competitor

Represented QUT in case competitions in Los Angeles, Bangkok and Melbourne in 2025. Second overall at Marshall, third in division at Chulalongkorn and a national finalist at L’Oréal Brandstorm.

Musician

I make music in Ableton on my laptop and keep working at guitar. I finished my first track, Alone with You, and I’m working on another. It’s something I keep making time for alongside work and building apps.

Golfer

I picked up golf to spend more time with my dad, who loves the sport. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with it too. Now I’m building Holecut, an iPhone app that turns our rounds into short videos with shot tracers.

Runner

I ran my first half marathon in June 2026. It was one of the toughest mental challenges I’ve taken on. I’ve signed up for a marathon in 2027 and am now training for it.

Chess Addict

Rated around 1500 on chess.com and still grinding. Mostly rapid, mostly losing to people who saw it three moves earlier than I did. My favourite openings are the Caro-Kann and the London System.

Consultant, Engineering, AI and Data

Deloitte

Consultant: August 2026 to present · Analyst: July 2025 to August 2026

On a major bank assessment, synthesised workshop findings across a 15-domain technology review and helped draft target-state direction for seven exhibit packs.
Consolidated more than 400 proposed initiatives into 103 and helped build a three-year costing model and roadmap. Produced Gantt and cost-by-stream views for executive review.
Co-led an internal platform assessment with a manager. Operator workshops showed only one of six modules was meaningfully used, so our recommendation focused on that capability rather than the full suite.
For an internal AWS migration evaluation covering more than 200 applications, reconciled inventory and server core data, structured the initial pricing model and coordinated more than 40 specialist interviews.
Co-drafted the migration framework for the subsequent internal pilot, mapped inputs and responsibilities, and led the onboarding pack.
Used AI to create baseline drafts for the bank assessment packs, then checked findings in my own pack against transcripts and domain specialists.

Projects

Holecut

In progress

An iPhone editor for weekend golf videos. Record or import shots, add a tracer over the ball flight and a tour-style scorecard, then export one video to share.

I’m building it in Swift for rounds with mates, with AI assistance. The private beta suggests the strike from the impact sound, follows the ball from your mark and fits the rest of the flight, which you can shape with apex and landing handles. It’s on my phone for field testing. Automatic tracking is experimental, and it isn’t on the App Store yet.

Candor

In progress

A Mac app that keeps job applications up to date from Gmail. Each suggested update sits beside the email it came from, and nothing changes until you confirm it.

I’m building Candor out of my own job search. The native Mac app is built and tested on my Mac. Data stays on the Mac, encrypted, and Candor only drafts emails, never sends them. Résumé suggestions have to link back to real evidence. Connecting real Gmail accounts and an App Store release are still ahead. The preview uses fictional applications.

Release Review

In progress

A Chrome extension that checks your analytics tracking survived a website release. Record a journey before and after, and it shows which expected GA4 events were seen, missing or unclear, with the request evidence.

Everything runs in the browser, with no server. Version 1.0 is built and tested locally and isn’t published yet. The preview uses the built-in sample, not client data. Built with AI assistance.

Illustrative preview

ETF Allocator

Live

A Telegram bot that turns my CommSec Pocket holdings and chosen target weights into a monthly ETF buy plan for my own use.

The preview uses fictional figures. The bot syncs holdings through SnapTrade, works out which ETFs sit furthest below my target weights, respects minimum order sizes and adds a short market note using Google Gemini and public market data. The GitHub Actions workflow has passed manual runs; its first scheduled monthly send is still ahead. I can switch strategies or check my mix in Telegram.

Personal portfolio

Live

I built this site to bring my work, side projects and music into one place, with my résumé, case competition presentations and a player for my first finished track.

Built in Next.js with help from Codex and deployed through GitHub and Vercel to my own domain. I’ve worked through the details as I go: responsive layouts, overlapping photo galleries, accessible controls and reliable audio playback.

Music

I make music in Ableton on my laptop and play guitar. I’m working on both alongside building apps and my full-time job. Making music and building apps give me a similar kind of satisfaction. In both, I get to be creative and experiment with an idea until I’ve made something I’m happy with.

Alone with You is the first track I finished start to end. It is not going to trouble the charts, but every part of it is mine, which was the point. Working on the next one.
